板新技术标准。
    ATX有何优势？
    与以前的Baby/Mini-AT主板相比较而言, ATX的有如下特点：
    第一, Baby/Mini-AT的电脑中, 主板的位置使主板后的空间很小，这就使主板上的输
入/输出信号接口必须依靠附加的线缆, 而降低了电脑的总体性能。而ATX的主板,从外形
上看,相当于旋转了90度的Baby-AT主板,它使不少输入/输出信号接口可直接做在主板上。
    第二，Baby/Mini-AT主板上原先的CPU和内存位置不合理。CPU顶上的散热小风扇，增
加了CPU的高度，且当风扇损坏时，CPU也常常烧毁。另外, AT主板中，CPU与其风扇的高
度使得很多长的PCI和ISA卡插不上去,内存也因电源的阻挡而装卸不便。 而ATX主板中，
CPU和内存插槽均位于主板的一边, 所有扩展槽都可以插全长的扩展卡,内存的插拨也很方
便. 另外,因此时的CPU靠近电源风扇, 主机电源风扇可给CPU散热.
    第三, ATX主板把软盘和IDE硬盘连接器放置到软硬盘支架附近, 缩短了连线。
    第四, ATX主板还对整机的电源系统做了很多改进,使其更节省能源、

                                  What is ATX

    ATX is the abridgment of ATeXternal . It is initiated by the Intel Corp. to 
boost the overall performance of motherboard in PC.
    What is new about ATX ? 
    Comparing with the original Baby/Mini-AT motherboard, ATX based motherboard 
has the following advantages:
    1, In the Baby/Mini-AT based PC, the motherboard leaves little space for the
 I/O ports on board. So it needs extra cables to connect these ports. This will 
lower the performance of the whole PC. On the contrary, the ATX based motherboard 
looks like a 90-degree rotation of the Baby-AT, this allows the I/O ports (and 
their connectors) can all be built on board.
    2, The CPU and SIMM slots don't have the best positions on the Baby/Mini-AT 
board. The CPU-fan increases the height of the CPU. And when the fan is damaged 
accidentally, the CPU will get over hot. Some whole-length PCI and ISA cards can't 
be properly installed because the CPU and its fan are too high on the Baby AT 
board. And the power supply box often makes the DRAMs hard to insert. But on the
 ATX based motherboard, the CPU socket and the SIMM sockets are far from the 
expansion slots, leaving each expansion slot capable of whole-length card. And it 
is easy to insert or uninsert DRAMs. The CPU is near the power supply box and they 
share one fan. 
    3, On the ATX based motherboard, the floppy disk connector and the hard disk 
connector are just beside the floppy disk support-bracket and the hard disk 
support-racket. So shorter cables are needed to connect them. 
    4, Power supply is advanced on ATX board, making it more energy-saving.
